Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 8, 2026
This policy covers gamerelease.app and its companion browser extension, Wreck This Page. It explains what data we collect, why, and how you can control it.
Who We Are
Game Release App ("we", "our", "us") operates gamerelease.app and the Wreck This Page browser extension. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how it's handled across both.
Information We Collect
- Usage analytics โ page views, browser/device type, approximate country-level location, and referrer, collected via Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights. This is aggregated and isn't tied to your name or email.
- Leaderboard data โ if you play Wreck This Page and choose to save your score, we store the nickname you type, your score, and a randomly generated ID saved on your device to prevent duplicate entries. We don't require or collect your real name.
- IP address โ collected automatically by our score-submission API purely to rate-limit abuse (e.g. blocking automated spam). It isn't shown publicly and isn't linked to your nickname in any user-facing feature.
- Contact โ if you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write in the message.
We don't require an account or login anywhere on the site, and we don't knowingly collect any other personal information.
How We Use Information
- To display game release dates, tier lists, and related content (sourced from IGDB).
- To operate the Wreck This Page leaderboard, including basic anti-cheat checks (session timing, rate limits) that keep the board meaningful.
- To understand aggregate site usage and improve performance.
- To respond if you contact us.
The Wreck This Page Browser Extension
The extension requests only the permissions it needs to run the game and save scores:
- activeTab / scripting โ lets the extension run the game overlay on the tab you click the toolbar icon on. It reads that page's visible layout only to turn it into game bricks; it doesn't read page content for any other purpose, doesn't track your browsing, and doesn't transmit page content anywhere.
- storage โ stores a randomly generated ID on your device (chrome.storage.local) so a saved score can be updated instead of duplicated. Nothing else is stored.
- Host access to gamerelease.app โ the extension talks only to that domain, to start a game session, submit a score, and read the public leaderboard. It doesn't contact any other server.
The extension never reads, collects, or transmits the content of the pages you browse, your browsing history, or any personal data beyond what's described above.
Third-Party Services
We rely on a small number of service providers, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- IGDB / Twitch โ source of game release data.
- Supabase โ hosts the leaderboard database.
- Vercel โ hosts the site and provides privacy-friendly analytics.
Cookies & Local Storage
We don't use advertising or third-party tracking cookies. We use localStorage (on the site) or chrome.storage.local (in the extension) to remember your leaderboard player ID and, on the site, your language preference.
Data Retention
Leaderboard entries are kept indefinitely as part of the public leaderboard. Rate-limit bookkeeping (IP address + timestamp) is minimal and used only to prevent spam.
Your Choices
- Clearing your browser's local storage (or the extension's storage) resets your leaderboard identity โ your next save creates a new entry instead of updating the old one.
- Email us to request that a specific leaderboard entry be removed.
- Uninstall the extension at any time from chrome://extensions โ this removes all local data it stored.
Children's Privacy
This site and extension aren't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the site or extension changes. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
